A Short History of Wall of Sound
The photograph above was our original location at 2nd & Bell in the heart of Seattle's Belltown.
Wall of Sound was founded in 1990.
For the first two years we shared space with Art in Form bookstore. One wall of the bookstore offered our sonic wares, a few CDs, cassette tapes and LPs, hence; Wall of Sound.
Exclusively selling the finest in obscure avant-garde music, we rapidly grew to include traditional and popular music, noise and avant-rock from Japan and other parts of the world, as well as classic early American Blues, Rock & Roll, Garage and Punk.
As the electronic music world exploded in the early and mid nineties with new genres and sub-genres appearing (and disappearing) at a rapid clip, we began to stock hot new independent and major label electronic releases.
As it stands today, we are still culling through the mountains of new and reissued product to offer you the finest selection of music available.
We host a monthly live music night at the Rendezvous/Jewelbox Theater. Featuring local bands as well as the occasional touring act.
